YouTube Rewind 2015: Hate Me Now!

This year I was wondering what might happen in the YouTube Rewind. I actual wasn't sure. I knew the dress would show up somehow. I figures Shia Labeouf would have his influence. I was almost certain it would have some kind of 10 year throw back. But other than that I wasn't sure what would happen. Sadly YouTube must have felt the same way.







I have been watching YouTube more than ever this year. Joel Sexton (Host of the Indie Intellect Talk Show youtube.com/indieintellect ) and I have described our selves as students of the platform. We have listened to every episode of Rhett and Link's Ear Biscuits studied famous YouTuber's growth patterns and watched way more youtube than is healthy. So we were both excited to see this years Rewind. Sadly it was a lot of build up for not much of a performance.

YouTube Rewind has a lot on it's hands. It is trying to figure out what were the most important things to highlight not the most viewed. It's also not trying to figure out what's most important to the world but to the active YouTube subscriber. The ones that go to Tyler Oakley sleep overs and Pentatonix concerts and knew about Miranda Sings long before she ever showed up on Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee. With that said they missed the mark. 2015's rewind already has 108 thousand dislikes and its only 4 days into its release. 2014's rewind only has 59 thousand dislikes and it has had a year to grow that number.

There is an up side for YouTube though. It currently sits at the most liked video as well with 1.4 million likes. 2012 through 2014 had 1 to 1.1 million likes. That means 300 million more people liked the 2015 rewind video.

But it's easy to like something. Likes are cheep. You really have to try hard to get those dislikes. Did YouTube deserve all the hate? Was this a reaction to YouTube Red? What do you think? Let me know in the comments below. Where did YouTube go wrong??

What's the Deal With Conspiracies?

Some of you might know that I own a YouTube and Podcast alongside Joel Sexton (@Yeddish on Twitter) called Indie Intellect. We recently released our second conspiracy theory video called "3 Conspiracies You Need to Know About!" and previously had made a more controversial one called "Are You Being Manipulated"
As we release these videos there is something I want to emphasize. Conspiracy theories are not just a fun pastime and a crazy mans way of thinking. What they really are, are ways of processing the world outside of what make sense or what has been told to us. Sometimes these ideas are just crazy but sometimes there is a hint of truth to them. Is worth looking into? One man named Syed Adnan would say so.
In 1999 Adnan was convicted of murder and until recently that was fact. Thanks to the popular podcasts Serial, Undisclosed and Truth and Justice (formerly known as Serial Dynasty) more and more people have been discovering that Syed Adnan was more than likely set up by the Baltimore police department. 15 years after being put into jail and Adnan is facing a retrial with a real possibility of being released. Why? Because one person decided to look into this crazy conspiracy theory!
Sometimes it's hard to believe these things but I implore you to look into those three podcasts to hear a real crazy conspiracy that is proof of why you really always need to question everything you hear.

Red Leaf

Sometimes I get a hint of it. I pore it in my coffee sometimes and some will get on my finger. If I lick it off I then can not think of anything I would rather do than down a spoon full. I dream of the north and pancakes and waffles... but then I remember.. it's not what I think it is. It's only the fructose of some cultivated weed pretending to be the sap of the majestic trees towering over northern Americas. The fulfilment of the promised land flowing with milk and honey that Columbus dreamt of in 1492. Honey tainted and honey pure..
It stands on it's own and the villain in the South dressed in sheep's clothing.. dressed in red leaves. Ligning our market shelves screaming "I AM WHAT YOU THINK I AM" and we know it's lies. but it's still sweet.. majestic. A fulfillment of prophecies not spoken to us. But we receive it."

Someday I may find myself happy with pancakes as innocent as baby cubs bathed in your essence. Till then this thick substance will hold me captive both reminding me of your glory and it's fassod.

So here is the original post by ThisOtherGuy. I love his outlook passion and intellect on life issues! If I was you I would subscribe to his channel for more thought provoking ideas in the future! The iMax Experience!

Guys, This is a big plee!! Check out my friend Max and subscribe. He is amazing and he just reached 900 subs a few days ago and is on his way to 1,000 This is a big deal! 100, 1,000, 10,000... basicly the divisions of ten, give you notoriety to the the passer by. which means once Max reaches 1K it will help him get more subs.

Mothers Day Rose and Beet Juice

Happy mothers day every one! If you are into juicing may I let you in on a secret? Some roses are edible. Unless they have been sprayed with pesticides than they are not at all edible.
If you want to make something special for tonight you can simply add two ingredients to turn any pineapple juice or apple juice rose tinted. Just add a small beat! and walah! One beat has enough red tint to turn 6 cups of juice bright red. That's what we did this morning.

We also added petals for the sentiment. and garnished the juice at the end too.

The Best Sonic and Spongebob Mashup Ever! @BrianLy

The first video I saw by Brian Ly was of his current style and I loved it! He's super entertaining and just a fun guy. I hadn't yet done my typical YouTube stalking just yet... When I finally did I was shocked! 

Ly, with 8 videos, had done what I have only ever dreamed of. He went viral. At least in my eyes! 1 million views on a video is something to boast of though no matter who you are. He had the viral formula: classic video game characters, mashup, hard work and!! Sponge Bob!! No wonder it went viral! 

But seriously, he put a ton of work into this video and it's great! Much like the rest of his videos! His latest video is a ton of fun and something I also aspire to do soon: dancing in public. 

So go check this guy out! I have no doubt in my mind that he will be a very loved and popular part of the 3rd wave of YouTubers that are coming up! Go give him a Sub!!

My Fave Gamers!

I'm not a big gamer video guy. When I was a kid my brothers would play games all day and all I got to do was watch. But they wouldn't talk to me while they did it either. So now when I watch youtubers I sometime have those flashbacks of wanting to get my turn.
But I decided to give it a try anyway and was pleasantly surprised!
Two guys that have stood out to me and I really hope you will check out are Adsrobin and Super Dazmo.

Adsrobin is at this moment in time my favorite gamer. He won me over with the video below but in general he is just a funny guy! He is also really genuine and I think others like that about him being as his vloggs have the highest viewings on his channel. He also has a Vine and Twitter you can check out!
But seriously check out this video:

Now Super Dazmo is another really funny genuine guy! He always makes me laugh when I watch his stuff and he seems like he really enjoys what he is doing! I highly recommend checking him out if you like a lot of awesome. Follow him on Twitter too!

Agree or Die

I've always been told that I like to argue. Most of the people that have told me that haven't ever cared to actually understand me. With most of their comments they have communicated to me that I'm frustrating and that I'm a problem. Once some one told me "You know what your problem is Daniel?" At this point we had been discussing predestination and I was exploring calvinism and arminianism so I wasn't really sure how my problems related. I think it was rhetorical any way so I waited for the finish of this unexpected interruption to the conversation. "You never pick a side. You always just want to argue." I can't remember what my response was but I think it was something like, "oh". I was hurt. But it was at this point I realized what they had been saying to me all this time. Which lead me to explore my own communication and what was I trying to tell people about myself.

I bring this up because after my last few post I realized that people were listening. Which is great! but I don't want people thinking that I am solely set out on arguing with every idea. I want to explore every idea and some time that means poking holes in ideas and questioning them. I want to communicate with people so that I can keep my own ideas accountable. It's not about agreeing on everything it's about being able to talk about everything.

I also wanted to say to you all right now as gently as I can that if you ever just wright "You're wrong" I will make you explain yourself but only because I love you and want to make sure you know why I'm wrong. If you don't know why I'm wrong then I will help you come up with an answer. I had a conversation like this out side of the blog where I ended up proving my self wrong with no help from the person I was talking to but it help me understand my own ideas so I was great-full for the one sided conversation either way.

To me ideas are something we must all be questioning/exploring all of the time with each other. Even if we come to the same conclusion every time we talk. Biblically we are commanded to remind each other about the salvation of Jesus which means we must be exploring that idea. Not just knowing it and moving on. Ideas are important and working them out is important as well. I have had a so many bad ideas that when I worked them out with other people turned into great ideas. No one ever agrees with all or any of my ideas but my friends are willing to listen and question with me.

If any of you do know me you know that I do argue. I've realized that when I argue it is to win. I like to win when people look down on me. It's pride that compels me to do it and so I have been repenting of that. It's a work in progress.

And Finely
Communication is something deeper than talking. I feel like sometimes talking is a way of putting distance between my self and the people I'm with. A conversation can lead people away from what might actually be going on around me. "How are you doing?" me:"Good!" with a smile. I can say that any time even when I'm not. Arguing is another way people think they communicate. Communicating to me, however, is something more beautiful than a well structured idea or a flowery conversation, it is the heart of what we all want. Communication to me is uniting with others in a deeper way than we were before we communicated... it's learning about each other and and understanding each other. "Listening" is the fancy word people use I think. Learn, listen and with love it is completed.

Skit Channels that need more exposure!

Hey friends! I watch a lot of youtube and want to always comment a ton on the videos I watch but I'm afraid to spam up their feeds so I've created this blog so I can rant on how much I love them! Haha!
Hopefully I can give them deserved exposure along the way too!

So I am a big fan of skit channels. They are by far my favorite type of youtube video. So I search far and wide to find them and I have found three that I think you all need to see.

Classic Jany
Jany and Tony are an awesome comedy duo with a quick wit. Their videos are always spot on and they execute their punch lines like no other. I love them and you need to swing over and subscribe. 



Christian James
The next person I want to highlight could be acquired taste but I love his style. Another comedy duo with punchlines that always make me laugh out loud. (i refuse to use the acronym "lol").
I embeded his video that seriously got me hooked. Hilarious and classic dumb guy skit.

Lastly is a channel that I just found but wish he had more subscribers. His language is a little ruff so if you don't like curs words you might not like this. However, his cinematography is epic and I cant wait to watch more of his stuff.
